Northern Ireland Road Relay Championships

Oct 5, 2023

Lagan Valley Seniors had a great day at the 2023 Road Relay Championships with 6 Teams taking to the start line and the Masters Ladies Claiming the top spot and being crowned NI Champions.

With the sun shining and Victoria Park lined with club gazebos and supporters, it was a great opportunity for the road runners to get a chance to absorb the team spirit and push each other along.

The Master Ladies were lead off by Suzie Cave who fought through illness to make sure the team were set up among the top spots going into the second leg. Really strong runs from Victoria McCartney and Shileen O’Kane in the second and third legs maintained the strong position ensuring Sarah McNutt was set up nicely for the final leg. Sarah McNutt stormed the final leg bringing the girls home in first place. This was a great team effort all round from the 4 Ladies, each playing a massive role in the teams success.

Special mention must also go to two of our Master ladies who stepped up to the challenge of taking on the Senior Ladies race to ensure we had a strong team out. Catriona Donaldson and Suzanne Higgins were both part of the Senior Ladies Team in this event 15 years ago, showing their longevity and talent.

Well done everyone.
