NI & Ulster Age Group XC Championships
The last four weeks has seen results on the country and road which are probably the best ever in the clubs 34 year history, certainly at youth level. The performances of our Junior Cross Country runners in both the Even and Uneven Northern Ireland and Ulster Championships have been outstanding with seven individual podium positions including Gold for Rory Armstrong, as well as 6 Team Titles and 12 teams qualifying for the National Championships. Added to this are another batch of Sky Blue and Navy who have qualified through the successes of Co. Antrim.
The more Senior athletes were also been in action with considerable success. At the Bobby Rea Memorial meeting the Senior Men finished fourth out of 21 teams thanks it has to be said by the Youth squad members outgrowing the Age Groups and making in many cases their Senior debuts. Time, as has been said, waits for no man (or woman) so this trend will continue over the next number of years and will, I am sure, see the club fill the gap between Juniors and Masters.
In total we had 77 LVAC runners in the Even Championships and 42 travelling to the Uneven Championships in Donegal which is fabulous for the club. Congratulations to all the runners and to the coaches for all the hard work they have put in to these successes.
