MONDAY NIGHT MOB PARKRUN CHALLENGE
The 2023 Monday Night Mob Parkrun challenge got underway with a visit to the beach at Crawfordsburn. Sadly the course only runs for about 300 metres in each direction along the shores of Belfast Lough as the route designer was possessed with a wicked streak which means that within 100 metres of the start the runners/walkers encounter the first of several very long and steep climbs. While this is brutal, worse is to come as tarmac is left behind and the winding climbs of the Country Park punish the already suffering legs and lungs.
Thankfully all of the almost 20 Sky Blue and Navy contingent ranging from 10 to 75 safely (and the the case of the latter – slowly) finished the course. Kris Wilson was our first finisher in 3rd position while in 9th Shileen O’Kane was the first lady to finish and she also had the best Age percentage score. Richie Edwards has the best Age Percentage of the men.
