Manchester Great Run 10k and Half Marathon

Saturday 20th March 2023, 8 of the Monday Night Mob headed to Manchester for the Great Run 10k and Half Marathon. Ian, Elaine, Jenny, Richie, Liz, Kate, Eric and daughter Dawn.

The weather forecast for the weekend was Sunny and 20 degrees . On the Saturday 3 of the girls did the Coronation Studio tour. While the others did a tour of the free house’s along the canal.

Sunday 21st and the forecast got it spot on and we awoke to glorious sunshine. Ian was the only one doing the Half Marathon which had an 8-30am start. We had a great hotel right on the start line, and was a walk 15 minute walk back from the finish line.

The 10k didn’t start till 11-30am which meant we were able to see Ian off and also see him finishing with a time of 1.37.53.

For the 10k the rolls were reversed Ian was able to watch the rest of us start and finish. Boy was it hot, but everyone survived and we waited for each other to finish in the following times:-

Richie – 41.14
Jenny – 43.56
Eric – 45.15
Kate – 54.15
Elaine – 56.34
Liz – 57.00  ( slight niggle )
Dawn – 60.01

After a few liquid refreshments on the way back to the hotel it was time to shower, get the glad rags on and enjoy a few of Manchesters finest establishments. I’m sure you all saw that from our photo’s. Great company. great craic and planning next years already.
