LVAC Juniors Shine at London Mini Marathon
REPORT WRITTEN BY JIM MCKEOWN – COACH
This was another proud day for Lagan Valley AC athletes at London
Fantastic running by the 6 juniors (pictured) representing NI Schools at this morning’s British Road Racing Championships which make up the London Mini Marathon.
Lughaidh Mallon ran a brilliant race to finish 2nd in the Senior Boys event covering the 2.6km course in a swift 7.22; in the U15 Boys equivalent, Mini Marathon debutant Noah Harper (first race back after a recent injury setback) had a great run in 8.17 so I was delighted with that effort under the circumstances. Meanwhile our girls also had strong runs today – in the U15 girls race Grace Bennett posted 9.10 and Isa McCarron 9.29; and in the U17 event Katie Graham came home in 9.34, with Lily Rimmer next in 9.45. A great trip was had by all with more valuable memories and experience safely banked away!
Earlier today as well Scott Owen (pictured) ran the Almac sponsored 5k at Craigavon Lakes and finished 2nd overall and 1st Junior in a new 5k road PB of 17.30 (Strava 5k says 17.16) – great work Scotty.
Also today Lewis Kitson continued his Parkrun crusade with victory at Knockbracken Reservoir PR with victory in 17.25 – well done Lewis .
