The 2023 Cross Country Season got underway in Armagh and Mother Nature ensured everyone got a taste of some real XC conditions. In heavy rain and with tough conditions underfoot at the Palace Demesne Lagan Valley had a brilliant turn out across the age groups with some great performances and even some club debuts.

Tommy Arthur at only 18yrs had a great run in the 7.5km Seniors mens race to take 2nd place, followed closely by Jack McCausland who had a strong top 10 finish.

There were also podium spots in the age group races with Oisin McGloin finishing in 3rd with Noah Harper battling strongly for 4th. Rory Armstrong finished second in the U15 Race well clear of 3rd place.

Katie Graham showed her experience over hilly conditions to take 3rd place in the ladies U18 race with Katie Keown taking the silver in the ladies U15 event.

Olivia Morgan had a outstanding run to take 2nd place in the Senior Ladies Race.

There were also strong runs from Kate Montgomery, Jenny Finlay (back from injury), Liz Dawson, Shileen O’Kane, Ciaran McKenna, Eric Montgomery, Richie Edwards Keith Dawson, Jude McGann, Zak Hall, Scott Owen, Sam Moffitt, Lily Rimmer, Aoife Magee, Isabella O’Dowd, Adam Harrison, Beibhinn Bourke.

Results are yet to be finalised from the event but regardless of the times it seemed like a great XC experience for all.
