THE COACHES
GERRY CARSON
COACH
Athlete, administrator, journalist and current President of Athletics Northern Ireland, Gerry has brought his wealth of experience to take on the role of Head Coach to Lagan Valley sprinters. As an athlete Gerry was an outstanding sprinter winning Northern Ireland titles, breaking records and representing his country on numerous occasions including the 1970 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, 1970. As a journalist he has written in uncompromising fashion about the sport for half a century.
LINDA CRAIG
COACH
Linda has been valuably assisting with the coaching in the Sprint Squad for a number of years, she is also a key element for our throwing squad assisting with our javelin throwers in particular.
JANET PRICE
COACH
In 1974 Janet Price as a 12 year old set Northern Ireland Minor Records at 100m 12.9, 200m 28.2 and Long Jump 5.22m the latter of which stood for several decades. Sadly her career was a short one and she dedicated herself to a life of nursing. In 2018 she got back in touch with her old coach and expressed an interest in getting involved again in the sport. She has proved a welcome addition to the sprint and jumps coaching staff and has also become a popular and regular Northern Ireland Athletics Official.
