The 2025 Belfast City Marathon was once again a brilliant success for the club. With the sky blue and navy taking part in both the main marathon event and the relays.
Huge congrats to our ‘young’ All Male team that won the Belfast City Marathon Relay last Sunday in a swift 2.18.06 – the winning quintet comprised Oisin McGloin, Ruairi Hollywood, Stephen Lyster, Jack McCausland and Noah Kavanagh (all pictured). The BBC coverage was fantastic, and it was so gratifying to see the boys leading the race as the individual winner drafted in behind for long periods – you couldn’t buy that free publicity for the Club! Further success came in the form of our Mixed A Team who came 5th overall and 3rd in their category in a time of 2.31.27 (pictured are Stephen Lunn, Tommy Arthur, Olivia Morgan, Scott Owen and Jude McGann). Not to be outdone, our All-Male B Team finished 7th overall and 3rd in their category with a combined total of 2.41.03 – well done Patrick McCabe, Niall McAufield, Zak Hall, Donall Higgins and Sam Moffitt (missing from the photo are Zak and Patrick). Special mention to Isa McCarron and her +4 (Katie Keown, Marianne Doherty, Holly Arthur and Lily Rimmer) who were running in memory of Delia for the Marie Curie Charity – the girls put in a fantastic shift and to date have raised over £4000 – Delia would be so proud of you Isa and Team – some things are bigger and more important than running.
Special mention to John Jackson who ran the race of his life to finish 7th overall (1st in the 40-44 category) on his full marathon debut in an outstanding 2.35.30 – fair to say it was another proud day for the Club.
As if the club didn’t get enough promotion out on the roads our club President John Glover made sure we were represented in the studio as well, teaming up with former member Kaite Kirk to provide the live commentary of the race for the BBC.
– fair to say it was another proud day for the Club.
