On the 19th July Marys Peters Track played host to the brilliantly organised Belfast British Milers Meet. Great conditions and support paved the way for some strong Lagan Valley AC performances, podium spots, championship standards and club records.
Lughaidh Mallon had an outstanding run in the 1500m setting a new club record of 3.47.45 which was also a qualifying standard for the U20 European Championships. Lughaidh will represent Ireland in Jerusalem in the 1500m in August.
Lynsey Glover finished 2nd in the Senior Ladies Hammer Throw with 37.96m. Lagan Valley AC were the event sponsors for the Ladies Hammer Throw which was nice publicity for the club with the sky blue and navy flag flying beside the cage.
The night finished with the inaugural 4×400 Northern Ireland Mixed Relay Championships. Lagan Valley AC had two teams running which was great to see. Strong runs from Kate Millar, Laura Frey, Andrew Proctor and Adam Madill resulted in a fabulous 2nd place finish for the team.
