On Sunday 16th February 2025 a team of 21 Master athletes travelled to London to compete in the prestigious Inter-Area Challenge in the Lee Valley Indoor Athletics Centre.
The event featured nine teams including Scotland, Wales, and various regions of England.
5 Lagan Valley Athletes were part of the strong NI team and all performed with distinction gaining valuable points resulting in the NI Team achieving its highest ever points total.
Ciara McGilloway gained maximum points with a win in the ladies Shot Putt with a brilliant 8.24m.
Lynsey Brown was on top form breaking the 11 second barrier for the first time in the 60m Hurdles for third place in 10.98sec. She followed this up with 5th in the 60m in 8.92.
Suzie Cave made a welcome return to the sprinting scene to take 4th in the W40 400m with 1:06.06sec as well as 8th in the 800m in 2.40.94.
Joe Fry was a close 8th in the Long Jump with 3.82m and Barry Morris finished 7th in the M70 Long Jump with 2.25m.
This was a great experience for the LVAC 5 and brilliant for the club to be represented at this level. Well done all.
