Mathieson Cup and Shield XC 2025

On Sunday 12th January 2025 the Club has a large turn out for the Mathieson Cup and Shield XC.

The sky blue and navy was present in all of the races and even on the podium.

Shileen O’Kane took the gold in the F55 category with a strong performance and time of 26.23.

Shileen was just pipped to the line by Philip Brines in a time of 26:20 who also topped his age category.

Ken Dougan and Ian Bailey also had good runs for 4th and 6th in the M60 race.

In the Senior Men’s 8k John Jackson ran a strong race for 17th in a time of 29.12 followed by David Hanna in 34:47 for 13th in the M45 category.

Richard Edwards had a time of 36:51 for 8th in the M55 race with Claudio D’Arconte finishing in 40:16 for 23rd in the M45 category.

Adam Brown had a great run for a top 25 finish in the M35 category.

In the junior ranks there was a 2nd place in 8.10 over a sticky 2km route for Beibhinn Bourke u13, well supported by Lucy Morgan 9.55. Ollie Hanna was 4th in the u15 4k running 14.52, with Eoin Morgan 12th in 16.07.

In the girls equivalent Georgina Garland was a fine 2nd in 16.30. Next up the u17s saw Olivia Morgan take the win in 24.20 (over 6k) with Freya Woodhead 4th in 26.26.

In the boys u17, also over 6k, Scott Owen led a Lagan quartet home in 21.55 for 4th, closely followed by Adam Harrison 5th in 22.13, Sam Moffitt 9th in 24.25 and Joshua Hanna 12th in 25.40.
